News

11/16/09  OK, so I'm clearly not going to do this every week.  If you are just checking out our school, you can be assured that this is typical for us.  I'm a great teacher, but an experienced owner and director, so I'm just learning how to do all this admin stuff!  Mistakes are made!  All the time!

Our biggest news is that we have 2 lovely new children with us.  It really changes and adds to our program to have them.  The new friendships, in particular, are really fun to watch.  The second biggest news is that with the rain, going outside has been different.  We are confined to the carport all the time.  We've been thinking about how to add to that area to make it more intersting to be in all the time.  We are adding a basketball hoop, a teeter totter, maybe a small slide if I can find an affordable one.

10/24/09  The main news is that there is going to be news!  I'm going to try to update this page every weekend.  Yay, goals!  This week, we had a lot of interest in the updated house area and in building towers out of wedgits.  I have always wanted to get a huge store of wedgits, so I'm looking into the budget for that.  They are a really great toy.  Our themes this week were skunks and ballet (the kids', of course, not mine!).  We haven't been able to take our walk to Ella Bailey park for 3 weeks now, due to rain.  We've still been getting to Discovery park every Wednesday, but the park equiptment is another story:  too wet.  Instead we did a huge paint project (see picture page).  If it rains next week, maybe we'll go to the story hour at the library.

7/20/09  I started volunteering at the Magnolia Farmer's Market this weekend.  We made paper crowns, and had a lot of fun.  If you want to meet me or see me in action, I should be there all summer.

7/15/09  Parent tours have been going swimmingly.  I've met some nice people, and have enrolled one full time and 2 part time kids already!  Also exciting:  my licenser is coming on August 4th!!  I can't imagine that I have anything left to do, but I'm sure she'll find something, but I should be ready very soon after that!!

5/15/09  I'm thinking about having an open house party.  I'll keep you updated.

5/13/09  WOW!  The sand is IN!  It turned out be 2 and a half tons, all shoveled by yours truly.  I have a little sand PTSD, so I haven't been able to quite finish, but it'll all be ready soon.  I also got these gorgeous stumps (wood rounds, they are properly called) which will be used for a climbing structure of sorts, and maybe one for hammering nails.

I went to the Goodwill outlet last weekend.  My nasal passages are still shot from whatever they put on the clothes, but I got a huge amount of spare children's clothes, dress-up clothes and fabrics, even a little running stroller for dolls.  Great haul!

I found a beautiful bamboo cutting board that would be perfect for a pretend play kitchen.  Now I just have to find the perfect base to put it on.  Goodwill, again.

Ryan (one of our landlords) is going to build us a fence!  He's quoted me $160 in materials for a 14' fence.  If you have any cost saving tips, let me know.
