Hi, I'm Cameron, the owner, director, AM teacher, cook and housecleaner of Dandelion Day Care.  I decided to open my own home day care after working in the field as a teacher on and off over 10 years, and seeing the best and the not-so-good that exists out there.  I'm a dreamer and an idealist, so I thought that I could make a center that offered the best practices and elements that I've seen or dreamed of for children and families.

I was lucky enough to be a part of the infant, toddler, preschool and afterschool care teaching community at UC Berkeley, where I learned so much, and especially about working with infants.  Her methods are so respectful and beautiful for the children that I was won over completely.  Last year, I worked shortly for Hilltop children's center, and was also very inspired what they are doing there, especially the obvious happiness of the children to be there.  My experiences there also inspired me to research and add elements of Reggio Emelia education to my own best practices.

I'm a teacher for a lot of reasons, but they mainly boil down to that I believe that there is exactly one chance for a person to have a happy childhood, and I don't want a moment of that to be wasted on education that doesn’t help the child become a happy, educated, thoughtful, cooperative human being.

Besides early childhood education, I love to dance (mainly Cuban salsa rueda), cook, read and hang out with friends.  I have a B.A. in Women's Studies with and ethnic studies focus from UC Santa Cruz.  I also attended the M.S. program in Nutrition at Bastyr University.

Hi, I am an assistant teacher and the afternoon teacher here at Dandelion Day Care.  I just moved to Seattle from Columbus, Ohio after spending several months traveling.  I love working with children and am very excited to be working in such a positive environment.  I grew up in Ohio and am currently completing the last course in order to receive my BA in English with a minor in Theatre from The Ohio State University.

While attending college, I worked as a program at at Upper Arlington School Age Child Care.  This was an after school program for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.  While I loved working with this age group, I also love toddlers and preschoolers and it is great to be spending so much time working with these age groups.  I have always seen myself working with children and cannot imagine a career in any other field.

Outside of work I enjoy theatre, movies, hiking and backpacking, reading, playing cards and board games and spending time with my friends.
